Columbus Distance Classic - Half Marathon
Finally is here...the Start of the Season!
I am looking forward to race day this coming Saturday April 1st. It is always really exciting to have the changes of the seasons and finally start taking off many of the layers that we have to wear during the winter. I am specially glad since I like to be warm I always make sure that I am properly dressed. Liz (My Lovely wife) makes fun of me for being so concerned about the clothing... what can I say? I was born in Venezuela where summer year around.
The training for the Columbus race has gone really well. The legs are feeling good and should be able to hold the pounding of the event. Although, my right achilles tendon has been tight in the last couple of weeks after a good warm it should be good to go. The weather will be factor this weekend. It does not look like the weather the runners had last year (snow fall, wet, windy, cold...) it might be wet and cool. At this point, it looks all right but it could always be better so let's hope for that.
The goal ultimately is to finish the race but really I would like to beat my PR of 1:36.47. Anything below that number will be great. But if I can make it below 1:32.00 that would outstanding!
Sometimes I can predict the future believe it or not... This is what Liz will be doing sometime after the race when she reaches her new PR...
Stay tuned for a report after the race... Wish me Luck!!!
