...it is important to mention that it is during that 2 year span that this lady became a pro-triathlete and an inpiration to anyone out there who is going through a clotting episode.
Please let me introduce you to Julianna Batizy-Morley (check out her website by clicking on her name...!)
Although tests have not been able to find why Julianna suffered from her clotting episode, she does not have a lot of risk factors, she sremains very active and had this to say to me in a recent email... "The cool thing about my story is that not only did I recover- but I was not a pro triathlete when this happened. I raced age group back then. The following October (1 year later) I won my age group at world championships and then turned "pro" at an age that is considered old to make such changes. Anyway- that is the part I love the best- instead of remaining sick, I was able to get to a higher level than before. And I raced 1 year as a pro on coumadin (although my doctor was less than thrilled about draft legal racing on a blood thinner....)"
I was/am thrilled that Julianna stopped by our booth at the Greater Cleveland Triahtlon. She is a survivor and another example of people who was able to get back and do what their love... in her case to an even higher level... Wow!
You know, I don't think that I would have a prayer against her in a race... Maybe I can stay wit her for about 20 yards in the water before she would take over the lead and leave me and the polkadots eating her dust...

The Clot Buster
All of the Clot Buster boys are VERY PROUD of her. I have to confess that I enjoyed very much cheering for her and seeing her compete. Not often I get the chance to cheer her on so this time around it was a pleasure for me to run around with Junior and my brother to provide her all the support that we could. 
Although she was concerned about the swim she got through it and it was time for her to make up some ground. She really looked strong on the bike but she threw down the hammer on the run... by my count she passed about 5 women ahead of her on her way to the finish... VERY IMPRESSIVE!!! I loved seeing her face expressions at the finish line as she was pleased to finish but more so that she got to compete and place so well.
Mrs. Clot Buster you ROCKED!!!

I am very much looking forward to cheer her own all the way from start to finish. She has been there for me sooooooooo many times that on Sunday I feel honored to be able to be on the sidelines to provide whatever encouragement that I can. My brother will also be there on Sunday so all THREE of us will be supporting Mrs. Clot Buster on here first triathlon after giving birth to Junior. 
Look for a full race report to follow sometime after the race. I think that between the three of us we will be able to capture Mrs. Clot Buster's feelings after the race.
I am honored, humbled. and proud to have the opportunity to be a citizen of this great nation. 
On the days leading up to the ceremony I had a dream in which all of us participating in the cermony lost our native accents as we we became Americans. Of course that was not the case, and to be prefectly honest with you I like it that way. I am the first generation of Immigrant of my family to set root in the US. At least for me, it is hard to say that in this day in age. Well, just part of the American Dream I am getting the chance to live.

For the past two years we had a great time during the weeknd of the Greater Cleveland Triathlon. We look forward to the opprtunity to do it once more next year. MANY THANK AGAIN!!!
Now, on to the race... yes, believe it or not we did have a race and the Clot Buster raced on Sunday... I was able to manage to line up for the Olympic distance race. I have no idea how my body would react to the long day of selling raffle tickets and mostly being on my feet all day. Early in the AM we got our selves to the park to find a steady wind coming from the north. We could not see the water at this point but the wind we could definitely feel... So, once the sun rose enough and we started to see the white caps in the lake it became very evident that no swimming would take place today... I was bummed out for sure. I think that the swim is a great equalizer for many competitors and personally it provides me with a little advantage that sometimes I can hold... So without a swim on we went with a mile run and the rest of the race.
During the first half of the bike is when I was starting to feel some of the fatigue from Saturday. The legs were not firing as well but I kept moving forward as much as I could. I was getting passed left and right by people in my age group. I think I saw 4 men passing me all together. At this point I am thinking that I going to coast home and just enjoy the views. Luckily the second half of the bike course is really fast and I went at it... I did not bring anyone back but I started to feel good.
So, on to the 6.2 Mile run my legs were feeling good. I got a nice pace together and right away I picked up a guy in my age group... all right 3 more to go. By mile 3 I picked up another one and on Mile 5 I got to one more. So, I know I have second place in the bag but what if... so I keep up my pace but the last guy in my age group was too far in front for me to catch... so I was able to manage a 2nd place in my age group. I just wonder what would have happened if we would have had a swim... oh well, I take 2nd place any day!

1) Coming out of the water and running to transition (Wow, this one was a slow swim... Swimming only one time per week has slowed me down... 6 minutes from last year's time. Well, I guess that is the price I have to pay to get the chance to kiss Clot Buster Junior's cheeks that much more...)
3) 5 times as I rode by to complete my required laps ( I think that they started to notice as I was slowing down after each lap... )
It was a pleasure to get the chance to race again. I don't get to do many this season but the three I am doing I am enjoying greatly as the polka-dots representing NATT and our mission to educate and create awareness against blood clots and blood clotting disorders flew high throughout the race getting people to notice.

What is it about grand-parents and their connection to their grand-child? I cannot believe the incredible love displayed by my parents while the visited us for the last 10 days. You had to see it to believe how radiant their faces were every time they got to hold little Clot Buster Junior. I did not realize this until the very end of their visit but between my dad, Clot Buster Junior, and I we had 3 generations of Varga's under the same roof. That was/is incredible.
IT IS TOUR TIME my friends! Last week I found a new appreciation for what the Tour riders go through. You see last week since my parents were in town I decided to take half-day vacations every day. This allowed me to car pool in with Tom but then ride home and get my workout out of the way so that I could hang out with my parents that much more. So, every day last week I got to work in the AM and by 11:30AM I was riding my 20 to 25 Miles home. I was not just cruising home I was riding hard just so that I could make good time and really take advantage of the effort. The first day it did not feel bad but every day there after I was hurting that much more as I made way home. So, if you really break it down in a given day I did a quarter of what Tour riders do on a given stage and I only did it for 5 days, the tour riders go out there and do it for 3 weeks! So, although my 94 Miles for the past week were impressive to me I am in awe as to what those professional bike riders go through during the Tour.
As for the Clot Buster, well, I continue to do training when possible as I am trying to get ready for a race at the end of July and then the 2nd Annual Clot Buster Raffle at the Greater Cleveland Triathlon during the first part of August.
The feeling of racing once again. It was sesational to be out there for my first triathlon of the year and actually have 2 people cheering for me! Mrs. Clot Buster and Junior were out there in full force and I LOVED every minute of it. It was an incredible experience to see my wife pushing the stroller around with that incredible cargo inside. I think that I raced with a smile on my face the entire time. 
Although I only did a sprint distance race it was fun to get the sense of competition once more. The polka-dots were once again flying high, specially through my helmet's new look. People really liked the look of it even more so that what I thought. 
This was a fun venue in downtown Cincinnati. The swim was unfortunately cancelled due to high levels of bacteria in the water because of the heavy rains during the early part of the week. It did not matter to me at all because I had my family cheernig for me every step of the way!
So, I hear Junior cry and I better go see what this is all about. Let's see we just fed him so we must chaging and hope that we get some solid 3 hours of sleep before his next feed. Did you know that you can get sore from holding a baby in your arms very long? No one ever mentioned anything about that... this is one of the hardest things for me to deal with... the soreness seems to be there a lot of the time... something very strange indeed.
